Description: 

The Golf Course Superintendent reports directly to the GM/COO and has responsibility for all day-to-day operations of the golf course, practice areas and clubhouse grounds. The Superintendent will lead and manage his/her department to ensure optimal playing conditions and detail work around the course/club. 

Continuing education is an essential aspect of the position and staying on the cutting edge of turf management, research, and technology as necessary components for success in the position. The Superintendent will provide excellent communication with the Membership, Board of Directors, and Management Team. Leadership in this role of the staff will be critical, and the Superintendent will need the ability to educate, direct, and develop excellent turf professionals.

*Shady Hollow is an 18 Hole country club located in Massillon/Canton, Ohio 

*Shady Hollow has Poa greens, Poa/Bent tees and fairways 

*Better Billy Bunker rebuild in 2019 with Pro-Angle Sand 

*Continuing Tree Removal Plan 

*New Superintendent will play an integral role in developing a short-term and long-term Strategic Plan for the golf course 

*Responsible for training and development of all staff. Department staff includes 2 FT assistant superintendents, FT mechanic, horticulturist and 3 other year round FT staff. Seasonal staff increases April thru October. 

*Ensures staff is working within OSHA, club safety, state and federal guidelines for safe working conditions. 

2 or 4 year degree in Turfgrass Science or related field 3-5+ of management experience at a country club or golf club Prior experience as a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent 

Pesticide Applicators License required 

NOTES: 

Additional Salary Information: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Club, in addition to the customary GCSAA benefits, offers a bonus and benefit package.
